Work Detail Vietnam is set to host the 2025 Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals (P4G) Summit in Hanoi from April 14 to 17, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced during a press conference held on April 8. Themed “Sustainable Green Transformation Centered on People,” the summit will mark Vietnam’s most significant multilateral event on green growth between 2021 and 2026. Speaking at the event, Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu emphasized Vietnam’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development and climate action, framing the summit as a crucial milestone in the country’s green transformation journey. “Vietnam has made strong commitments to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and cutting methane emissions by 30% by 2030,” Vu stated. “We will not sacrifice social justice or the environment for rapid growth. This summit underscores Vietnam’s leadership and international contributions in the green development sphere.” Vietnam’s Leadership Role in Global Sustainability The P4G forum, initiated by Denmark in 2017, serves as a high-level platform connecting governments, private sector actors, and civil society to align policies and foster public-private partnerships in support of global sustainable development goals (SDGs). Current focus areas include renewable energy, food waste reduction, sustainable water management, climate-smart agriculture, and zero-emission transport. Vietnam is one of nine P4G partner countries, alongside Denmark, South Korea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia, the Netherlands, Indonesia, and South Africa, with support from five international partner organizations. A Platform for Global Dialogue and Cooperation The summit is expected to convene between 800 and 1,000 delegates, including heads of state, ministers, and high-ranking officials from P4G member countries and other invited nations. Notable attendees include: Prime Ministers of Ethiopia and Laos Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia Ministers from South Korea, Indonesia, the UAE, and Rwanda Representatives from China, Japan, Singapore, the Philippines, Colombia, South Africa, and Italy Leaders from major global institutions such as the United Nations, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Asian Development Bank, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will also participate. Summit Highlights and Key Deliverables The four-day event will feature a green growth exhibition, a high-level plenary session, business dialogues, and five ministerial-level panel discussions. Topics include: Mobilizing green finance and resources Food system transformation Innovation and digital solutions Human capital development for green jobs Accelerating sustainable and efficient energy transitions Deputy Minister Vu confirmed that the summit is expected to yield key documents, notably the Hanoi Declaration and the P4G Statement on enhanced international cooperation for green transformation and sustainable development. Vietnam aims to use the summit to rally global support, attract investment for its green growth agenda, and share successful models for sustainable transformation.
