As one of the provinces with high electricity demand, Hai Duong records industrial, manufacturing, and construction sectors consuming approximately 70% of its total annual electricity usage. In response, local enterprises are adopting innovative energy-saving measures that not only benefit the businesses but also support broader energy conservation goals. One such pioneer is Song Da Cao Cuong Joint Stock Company (SCL),Mr. Vu Van Chien, General Director of SCL, emphasized the company’s strategic focus: “To save energy, SCL always focuses on technological innovation and upgrading production lines to optimize the production process.” At its autoclaved aerated concrete, fly ash, and dry mortar and tile adhesive plants, SCL has shifted from traditional coal-fired furnaces to biomass furnaces, utilizing agricultural and forestry by-products such as wood chips and sawdust. The company has further enhanced energy efficiency by modifying combustion chamber volumes and adjusting airflow rates. In a bid to recover and reuse heat, SCL also leverages waste heat from drying processes to pre-dry raw materials, which are then used in the autoclaving stage. Moreover, excess steam generated during autoclaving is reused to preheat boiler feedwater and in the pre-curing chambers—resulting in shortened boiler heating times and higher overall energy efficiency. Meanwhile, Ford Vietnam Co., Ltd., a major automobile assembler in the country, consumes an estimated 1.2 to 1.3 million kWh of electricity annually. The company has introduced a series of initiatives to curb electricity usage, including investment in energy-efficient production lines, replacement of traditional lighting systems, improved natural lighting and ventilation, and internal campaigns to raise awareness on energy conservation. An energy audit program was conducted to identify targeted solutions for optimization. In line with sustainable practices, Ford Vietnam is also planning the installation of a rooftop solar power system to reduce reliance on the grid. The company aims to reduce electricity consumption by at least 2% annually. To support and expand such initiatives, PC Hai Duong has launched several awareness and customer support programs. Through regular meetings with business clients, the company emphasizes the importance of efficient electricity use and conservation practices. As global fuel prices surge, reducing energy consumption has become a key strategy for businesses to cut production costs and improve market competitiveness. These efforts also contribute to stabilizing the power sector, particularly by alleviating demand during peak consumption periods. |
