Work Detail Construction of a $475.6 million bridge/road in Thailand is being accelerated.Construction for the $475.6 million Kiakkai Bridge and road connection in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region (BMR) in Thailand is being accelerated, with completion planned for 2026. The bridge spans the Chao Phraya River in the centre of Bangkok and the project is around 30% complete at present. The project is being managed by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). The new bridge and road link is needed to help reduce the chronic traffic congestion that afflicts Bangkok, resulting in long traffic delays. The work for the Kiakkai Bridge has been split into three phases, with a tower crane now being used to help speed work on the bridge itself. The first of these phases has been for the construction of an elevated road link on the Thon Buri side of the Chao Phraya River and is around 30% complete. The second phase has been to build the main structure of the bridge and the associated access ramps and is around 33% complete. Meanwhile the third phase is for an elevated road on the Phra Nakhon side of the Chao Phraya River that connects the bridge to the intersection at Saphan Daeng, with work still to commence on this stage.
