The state-owned company Aubasa has launched a new call for public bids to continue resurfacing Highway 2, the section between Dolores and Maipú. This initiative is part of a three-year works plan that seeks to completely renew the route connecting Buenos Aires with Mar del Plata. While work is being completed on the initial section of the route to Dolores, the next phase of construction will require an investment of 56 billion pesos. The works include patching and resurfacing on both lanes and will be carried out in two separate bidding processes. On May 6, the bids for Public Tender 4/2025, for the repaving of the upstream roadway (toward Mar del Plata), will be opened. The bids for Public Tender 5/2025, for the same project on the downstream roadway (toward Buenos Aires), with an allocated budget of 23.75 billion pesos, will be announced on May 8. The project includes surface and deep patching, as well as complete repaving of the section between kilometers 203 and 273, from the junction with Route 63 in Dolores to the Maipú toll booth. These works are scheduled to be completed within 360 calendar days. Aubasa projects a total investment of $113 million to complete the repaving between Dolores and Mar del Plata, with further phases planned through 2026. This plan seeks to improve the safety and trafficability of one of the countrys busiest routes, ensuring better conditions for drivers and optimizing the regions road infrastructure.
