The agreement provides for the supply of approximately 450 GWh per year to the energy marketing company Celepsa Spanish multinational Zelestra has announced the signing of a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Celepsa, a Peruvian energy generation and marketing company part of the UNACEM Group. This agreement will allow Zelestra to build a new 238 MWdc solar project and guarantee the supply of renewable energy for Celepsas operations in Peru. In a joint statement, they explain that the long-term PPA will ensure that Celepsa receives approximately 450 GWh of renewable energy per year. For Zelestra, meanwhile, this will mean having a contracted portfolio of more than 530 MWdc in the Andean country. In addition to the purchase of solar energy, the contract includes I-REC certificates, which guarantee the renewable origin of the energy. Zelestra claims to hold a portfolio of 29 GW of carbon-free projects in 13 countries, 5 GW of which are contracted with clients and are in the operation, construction, or pre-construction phases. In addition, the Spanish subsidiary of Zelestra, formerly known as Solarpack, is building the 300 MW San Martín plant in Peru . In September of last year, the Ministry of Energy and Mines granted Zelestra Perú a temporary concession to develop feasibility studies for three photovoltaic plants, two of 150 MW, both to be located in the department of Tacna, and one of 100 MW, in the department of Moquegua . In January of this year, the company received approval for the environmental assessment process for a 124 MWp solar plant, known as the San Joaquín Photovoltaic Solar Plant , to be located in the district of La Joya, in the province and department of Arequipa, which is planned to be connected to the National Electric System. Celepsa, a UNACEM Group company, began operations in 2010 and has two hydroelectric plants, El Platanal and Marañón, as well as a natural gas thermal plant, Santo Domingo de los Olleros. |
