Work Detail Construction work underway for 17.3MW Puglia project Construction work has begun on SSE Renewables’ first onshore wind farm project in Italy. The 17.3MW Puglia project is being developed across two sites in Puglia in the south of the country. The two locations are at Castel Favorito and Masseria la Cattiva, and the project will be equipped with five Siemens Gamesa 132-3.4MW onshore wind turbines. Early construction work includes building foundations as well as enabling works for site access. Once these works are completed, work will begin on installing the turbines at the combined sites. Italian firm Idoka Construzioni is the principal contractor for the project, which is expected to support around 70 construction roles at peak delivery. SSE Renewables country manager Gianluca Mercurio said: “It’s fantastic to have construction underway on our Castel Favorito and Masseria la Cattiva wind farm sites in Puglia, our first project in Italy. “We will be working closely with our contractors and supply chain partners as we look to complete construction of this strategic project. “The wind farm will play a part in helping Italy and the Puglia region reach climate targets, helping to strengthen energy security and generating homegrown renewable energy.”
