Work Detail PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK) signed a PLN 5.6 million (EUR 1.3 million) design documentation contract for modernisation and track doubling of Psary – Starzyny – Kozlów section located on the Warsaw – Krakow railway via the Central Railway Main Line (Centralna Magistrala Kolejowa – CMK). Databout won the contract which will have to complete design documentation together with supervision in the second quarter of 2027. The documentation will concern the reconstruction of tracks at Psary station on the Central Rail Line (CMK), the Psary – Starzyny rail connection and the Starzyny – Kozlów section (on the Line no. 64 Kozlów – Kociepol). Trains run on this route daily between Krakow, Warsaw and Lódz. The key element is the modernisation of the single-track 3 km Psary – Starzyny link, which after reconstruction will have two new tracks adapted to speeds of up to 160 km/h. Laying new tracks of the link will require reconstruction at the Psary station and construction of grade-separated crossings over CMK and Line no. 64. Two railway viaducts will be designed for this purpose. On the Starzyny – Kozlów section (Line no. 64) and Line no. 570, PLK plans to build new, computerised devices securing rail traffic, which will ensure the safety of a larger number of trains on the route at the same time. The complete reconstruction will include the Starzyny branch control centre, the new track layout of which will enable efficient train passage from the connecting line. The control centre will gain modern remote-control devices. The project will be financed from state budget funds included in the National Rail Programme until 2030, with a perspective until 2032. Construction works are planned to start in 2027 and are expected to be completed in 2029. “We are constantly developing the Central Railway Main Line, the most important line in the country. The planned investments will improve safety and capacity, which will bring benefits to the entire railway network,” said Krzysztof Pietras, Director of the Central Region, Investment Implementation Center, at PKP PLK.
