Work Detail Ascent Solar Technologies, a leading U.S. company specializing in lightweight and flexible thin-film photovoltaic (PV) solutions, has announced that its Director of Space Solutions, Julian Miller, will be attending the 40th Annual Space Symposium in Colorado Springs from April 7 to April 10. During the event, Miller will hold meetings with potential customers and partners from the commercial, civil, and defense space sectors to discuss the advantages and applications of Ascent’s advanced thin-film PV technology in space environments, including orbital and planetary surface missions. In conjunction with the symposium, Ascent Solar will be offering guided tours of its 5MW production facility located at its headquarters in Thornton, Colorado. These tours will be available to symposium attendees and major defense contractors, providing them with an opportunity to observe the company’s advanced manufacturing processes. Ascent will showcase its thin-film PV products, explore potential partnerships for its Space Hardware Developer Kit, and discuss upcoming mission and program opportunities. Julian Miller emphasized the company’s efforts to develop standardized combined offerings to provide a broader set of test data for space industry buyers evaluating integration possibilities for lightweight and efficient solar arrays. He noted that Ascent continues to engage with key industry providers of solar array structures and deployable mechanisms that enable satellites and other spacecraft to utilize the company’s thin-film PV technology. He also extended an invitation to organizations attending the symposium to connect with the Ascent team and visit their facility. Ascent’s 5MW production facility currently has the capability to fulfill orders exceeding 100kW this summer. The company is actively engaged in discussions with potential customers regarding trade studies for rapidly deployable solutions that serve as drop-in replacements while maintaining compatibility with existing systems. Additionally, Ascent is exploring new advanced capabilities offered by its Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS) PV technology, which combines resilience with efficiency in terms of mass, volume, cost, and production timelines. These discussions span multiple space industry segments, including emerging applications such as in-space manufacturing, distributed space power grids, and lunar surface operations. For those interested in learning more about Ascent Solar’s technology or arranging a meeting with Julian Miller during the Space Symposium, the company encourages direct engagement to discuss potential collaborations and future opportunities in the space industry.
