The Chubut provincial government is developing a program that also involves households without access to power lines. As part of the Clean Energy for Vulnerable Homes and Communities Project (PELHCOV), the Chubut Province Science and Technology Secretariat has installed solar panels in various Protected Natural Areas (PNA) within its jurisdiction. This involves the implementation of photovoltaic equipment in Los Altares and Lago Baggilt, as well as in the operational units of Isla de los Pájaros and Punta Pirámides, both located in the Peninsula Valdés Protected Natural Area. This work was developed in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism and Protected Areas and the Secretariats of Science and Technology, and Environment and Sustainable Development Control. The PELHCOV program aims to provide clean energy to hard-to-reach and environmentally sensitive areas. Its first operation was in the Punta Loma Protected Natural Area, where solar panels are already operational. The next phases of implementation will include Punta Norte, Cabo Dos Bahías, Rocas Coloradas, Punta Márquez, Piedra Parada, Bosque Petrificado, and Caleta Valdés. To date, the program has installed a total of 1,308 units. Of these, more than 1,100 have been allocated to families, 143 are solar oxen for farmers, and 65 have been installed in national parks and other protected areas. It should be noted that the project contemplates energy supply in areas without a stable supply, in regions where grid connection is limited or in areas of high environmental sensitivity. Basically, the goal is to provide energy from renewable sources, especially solar and wind, in order to replace the use of candles, kerosene lamps, firewood, thermal generators, and batteries, which are common for lighting, communication, and heating in the situations described above, with clean and environmentally friendly technological solutions. |
