Work Detail Luján Logistics Hub tender: a strategic commitment with multi-million dollar investments The municipality of Luján de Cuyo has extended the bidding process for the Logistics Hub until May 6, a project that plans investments of between $20 and $40 million. This initiative seeks to enhance connectivity and infrastructure in a key area of ??the Bioceanic Corridor, strengthening commercial logistics between South America and Asia. The plan contemplates the sale of 57.9 hectares at the intersection of Route 7 and Route 84, near the Luján refinery. The proposal includes the construction of a service station, a hotel, a truck stop, food services, a connection to the Belgrano Cargas railway, bonded warehouses, a fire station, and a space for the National Gendarmerie. This infrastructure is projected to serve as a strategic hub for the distribution of goods and the optimization of logistics costs. The previous bidding process was suspended by the courts following challenges filed by the company Rumaos SA. On that occasion, only one joint venture (UTE) comprised of Andesmar, Laugero Construcciones, and the Fuente Mayor hotel chain, with indirect ties to a firm in the fuel sector, had submitted its bids. The controversy centered on changes to the specifications, which led to a new call for bids. This call for proposals incorporates substantial changes, such as the mandatory purchase of land for a value no less than three times its tax appraisal, instead of the previous model, which included a portion of the land for lease. This decision responds to observations by the State Attorney General, who considered a sale to be more advantageous. Furthermore, publicity about the process was strengthened to attract a greater number of bidders. Various private sector players have expressed interest in the bidding process. The joint venture formed by Andesmar, Laugero, and Fuente Mayor is expected to participate again, while a Mendoza-based service station company could join the bid. Rumaos SA, the firm that brought the case to court, could also consider participating, although it owns a property on Route 7 where it plans to build a service station. The project will also be impacted by the upcoming opening of the Palmira Bypass, a new road layout that will alter the flow of heavy traffic and could affect several service stations outside the bioceanic corridor. Despite these challenges, the municipality maintains that the Logistics Hub will consolidate Luján as a key hub for international trade, with 100% private investment and a significant economic impact for the region.
