The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed two (2) road widening projects to ease traffic congestion along the national road of Del Gallego Town, Camarines Sur. Citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 5 Director Virgilio C. Eduarte, DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that additional lanes were constructed along portions of Rolando A. Andaya Highway also known as Andaya Highway in Del Gallego town spanning 1.61 kilometers. The completed projects cover the road’s widening from two (2) lanes to four (4) lanes, including the installation of reinforced concrete box culvert and storm drains for flood control, slope protection, metal guard rails, sidewalk, and reflectorize thermoplastic pavement markings for added road safety. “The improvement of Andaya Highway is vital in the town’s traffic decongestion, especially during holiday season, as it is the preferred route of motorists heading to other parts of Bicol Region,” said Secretary Bonoan. Implemented by DPWH Camarines Sur 1st District Engineering Office under the leadership of District Engineer Ramon Anselmo C. Calagos, the 11-month widening of Andaya Highway was carried out from February 2024 to January 2025. |
