Q ENERGY has started building a new solar park in Cahuzac sur Adour, located in the Gers region of France. This 8.5 MWp solar plant will generate enough clean energy to power 4,900 homes and help cut down 2,600 tons of CO2 emissions each year. The site was previously used for processing materials between 1993 and 2019, but now it is being transformed into a hub for renewable energy and biodiversity. As part of its commitment to sustainability, Q ENERGY is taking extra steps to support local wildlife. Véronique Sauzay, Regional Solar Manager at Q ENERGY, said, “This project is the result of close and intensive collaboration with authorities and local elected officials. We are proud to support the strategy of the Occitanie region to become an energy-positive region by 2050.” The fence will be designed to allow small animals to pass through, amphibian barriers will be installed, and native plants will be added to restore the landscape. The company is also shaping an embankment to create a suitable habitat for bee-eaters, a bird species that could return to the area. By keeping the site quiet and maintaining insect-friendly vegetation, the solar park will also support reptiles, amphibians, and insects. Additionally, information panels will be placed along the nearby “Sentier de l’Adour” hiking trail to educate visitors about the project and its environmental benefits. |
