In a significant step toward advancing sustainable energy solutions and supporting the Government of India’s energy transition and Net Zero goals, NTPC Limited and its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) have signed multiple agreements valued at Rs 96,000 crore with the Government of Chhattisgarh. These agreements, unveiled at the Chhattisgarh Energy Investors Summit-2025 in Raipur, encompass nuclear, pumped hydro, and renewable energy projects utilizing solar, wind, and hybrid sources in the state. The first memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between NTPC Ltd. and the Government of Chhattisgarh for the establishment of a 4200 MW nuclear power facility in the state, with an estimated investment of Rs. 80,000 crore. The second MoU, signed between Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) and NTPC, outlines plans for an investment of approximately Rs. 5,876 crore in the development of a 1200 MW pumped hydro storage project in the Sikaser area of Gariyaband district. The third agreement, a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) between NGEL and CSPGCL, aims to set up renewable energy projects up to 2 GW in capacity, with an estimated investment of Rs. 10,000 crore. These projects will assist in fulfilling CSPGCL’s Renewable Generation Obligation (RGO) and the Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) for Chhattisgarh’s DISCOMs. The agreements were signed in the presence of Chhattisgarh’s Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, along with other key state officials, including Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Energy Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, and MD of CSPGCL Shri Sanjiv Kumar Katiyar. NTPC’s team was represented by RED WR-II & Ash NI Shri Pradipta Kumar Mishra, ED (Nuclear) Shri Prasenjit Pal, GM Hydro Shri J C Kakoti, and AGM (NGEL) Shri Bimal Gopalachari. |
