The coastal dune defense project at the Pehuen Co resort was put out to tender in January 2025. The objective is to prevent the dune from retreating due to wave erosion. Project characteristics: The project will extend for 1,560 meters, from Ameghino Street to 20 meters west of Bouchard Street. The budget is $3,461,886,738. The project will consist of a rock-face defense at the base and an artificial sand fill above it. The new structure will help absorb most of the wave energy during storms or extreme events. Project benefits: The project will protect the artificial fill and the beach from erosion. It will protect the buildings and the Costanera Avenue, whose integrity is threatened. It will guarantee the sustainability of the resort and ensure its enjoyment for future generations. Location of the Resort: The Pehuen-Có resort is located 20 km west of Monte Hermoso and 50 km east of Punta Alta.
