The government announced that during the first half of 2025, a bidding process will be launched for the 42 kilometers of the new Río Cuarto Ring Road closure, a megaproject requiring an investment of $350 million. Following the recent approval of the expropriation of 220 hectares, the contract award process now begins. The project will be developed in four stages with seven construction fronts, generating employment for 850 people. Completion is scheduled for 2027. The new route will be built outside the urban area, without at-grade crossings and with a highway profile, with the aim of improving the circulation of heavy vehicles, optimizing freight transport, and easing urban traffic congestion. The closure of the Ring Road will consist of four main sections: Section of the A005 : This is the most complex part of the project. The first 2,000 meters, from the intersection of National Route A005 and National Route 8 to Molina Street, are practically complete. Section of Route 36 : Connects the Rotonda de los Mástiles with Route 158, a key Mercosur corridor. Section of Highway 158 : This will include the route surrounding Río Cuarto Airport, connecting with the Sol de Mayo interchange. Section of Route 8 : It will connect the Sol de Mayo junction with Route 8 A005, linking with the Río Cuarto-Holmberg highway. The project will feature two lanes in each direction, separated by a central median strip, as well as interchanges, collector roads, bridges, and a comprehensive lighting system. Its completion represents a significant advance for urban planning and economic development in the region, improving the quality of life for residents and reducing the accident rate within the city. |
