As part of the urban transformation that Parque España is undergoing, an initiative is underway to strengthen the connection between the city and the river: the construction of a staircase that will connect the new esplanade with the Mitre Club, a historic nautical institution in Rosario. The project, jointly promoted by municipal authorities, club representatives, and urban architects, includes not only the staircase but also the addition of an accessible ramp, safety railings, and landscaping that respects the natural surroundings and architectural heritage of the area. The proposal seeks to enhance public use of the space and improve accessibility to the clubs facilities. Currently, access to Club Mitre is via a side street with limited signage and poor visibility from the public promenade. The new connection is expected to create a more fluid integration between the park and the nautical center, facilitating the movement of pedestrians, cyclists, and tourists along one of the busiest corridors along the central waterfront. The works are part of the Comprehensive Renovation Plan for Parque España, a joint project between the municipality and the national government that has already shown significant progress. The renovation includes wide sidewalks, landscaped areas, and rest areas that combine modern design with weather-resistant materials. The club has expressed interest in collaborating with the initiative, provided that the necessary security and privacy criteria for its daily operations are respected. Along the same lines, the local government emphasized that the goal is to reinforce the open and accessible nature of the public space without interfering with the clubs internal activities. Residents and visitors have enthusiastically welcomed the proposal, emphasizing that the new connection will facilitate access to a little-explored section of the park. The projects feasibility is still under technical evaluation, but if confirmed, the staircase could be completed before the end of the year, as part of the final stage of the redevelopment of Parque España. |
