A concrete road built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now provides a safer and hassle-free travel to Goducate Training Center, an inland eco-tourism camp and training resort in San Miguel, Iloilo. According to DPWH Region 6 Director Sanny Boy Oropel, the project involves the portland cement concrete paving of a two (2)-lane, 1.92-kilometer access road from Sitio Sapa, Barangay San Antonio leading to the training center in Barangay Sto. Angel. “Goducate Training Center is considered as one of the most visited sites for retreats, recreation, and a getaway from the busy city life in Iloilo. Hence, upgrading this access road will help boost local tourism and connectivity, and spur more economic opportunities for surrounding barangays,” said Director Oropel. Besides providing better access to this tourist attraction, the road is also beneficial to locals, especially agricultural communities as it facilitates a hastened and more cost-efficient transport of farm produce to the market. The road concreting project was undertaken by DPWH Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office in the amount of P48 million. |
