Amazon Web Services (AWS) will invest $1B in Marysville, significantly expanding its data center presence there. The project will include two data center buildings comprising approximately 500,000 square feet at 14684 Industrial Parkway. The 55-acre site is currently owned by the city but will be transferred to AWS, city documents show. This investment by AWS is a game-changer for Union County and Marysville,” said Marysville City Manager Terry Emery. “It says a lot about our city’s capacity to keep leading-edge technology firms and demonstrates our focus on economic development and job creation.”. The Marysville City Council recently signed off on a community reinvestment area agreement, which grants AWS a 30-year, 100% property tax exemption on the assessed value of the new facilities. Construction will begin in August with completion slated for 2027. AWS estimates that in the first two to three years of operations, the new data centers will create 25 jobs, with an additional $2.25 million in city annual payroll. “As we expand AWS cloud infrastructure in Marysville, we’re proud to recommit to our long-term investment in the state of Ohio,” stated Roger Wehner, vice president of economic development at AWS. “In partnership with state and local leadership, we aim to invest in the community, strengthen the workforce, enhance educational outcomes, and contribute to the future success of the city.” As part of its investment, AWS will also provide more than $15 million in direct annual payments to the Marysville Exempted Village School District and the city during the 15 years. The company will also invest in infrastructure upgrades at 33 Innovation Park and establish partnerships with local nonprofits.
