The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has announced the winners of its latest auction to select green hydrogen producers under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Program, Mode-1-Tranche-II. A total annual production capacity of 450,000 metric tons has been awarded, with a maximum allocated incentive of ?2,238.599 crores. Under Bucket 1, 448,500 metric tons of production capacity were awarded to several companies. These include Oriana Power, Suryadeep KA1 Project (InSolare), L&T Energy Green, GH2 Solar, Green Infra Renewable Energy Farms (Sembcorp), Waaree Clean Energy Solutions, AM Green Ammonia, and Reliance Green Hydrogen and Green Chemicals. These companies will share an allocated incentive of ?2,220.749 crores. In Bucket 2, Matrix Gas and Renewables was the only winner. They secured 1,500 metric tons of production capacity and were allocated an incentive of ?17.85 crores. The auction allowed bidders to choose between two pathways: technology-agnostic or biomass-based. The aim is to boost the production of green hydrogen and its derivatives, promote large-scale use, and reduce production costs. The tender was issued in July last year. Successful bidders are required to set up their production facilities within 36 months from the date of receiving the letter of award. Bidders had the freedom to choose the location of their projects, and they could change the site during the construction phase if needed. |
