Work Detail |
The Provincial Government has launched construction of the new bridge that will connect Santa Fe and Santo Tomé, a key project to improve connectivity between the two cities. In addition to the main 1,300-meter viaduct over the Salado River, the project includes major improvements in the Santa Fe capital to optimize vehicular and pedestrian traffic. In the Santa Fe section, which will extend for 700 meters, the existing concrete pavement will be demolished due to its deterioration. In its place, two 9.30-meter-wide roadways will be constructed, each with two 3.65-meter-wide lanes and 2-meter-wide shoulders. The pavement structure will include a lime-improved soil base, a 20-cm-thick layer of sand and cement, and an H-35 plain concrete pavement of equal thickness. As part of these improvements, a new embankment will be built north of the existing one to ensure it fits into the project and improve traffic flow. Erosion protection will also be installed on the Santa Fe side of the abutment using a geotextile mat and concrete-filled geocells, ensuring the structures stability. The project also includes the addition of a metropolitan-scale bike path, sidewalks for pedestrian traffic, new LED lighting, and landscaping that will respect the existing trees. The contract for the project was awarded to the Temporary Business Association (JV) comprised of Lemiro Pietroboni SA, SE.MI.SA, and COCIVIAL SA, with a budget of $39,811,464,459.07. Funding is provided entirely by the Government of the Province of Santa Fe, and the project is expected to be completed within 24 months. Once completed, the existing bridge will channel traffic into Santo Tomé with two lanes, while the new bridge will allow traffic into Santa Fe, also with two lanes, thus improving mobility and reducing congestion in the region.
