One of Sweden’s first hybrid solar parks has been successfully launched in Halmstad, marking a major step towards a sustainable energy future. Sungrow, a global leader in renewable energy solutions, played a crucial role in this project by providing the inverters and energy storage system (ESS). Developed by Solarworks Sverige and Powerworks Energy, the hybrid solar park combines photovoltaic (PV) technology with advanced energy storage, generating over 7,000 MWh of clean electricity annually and enhancing grid stability and efficiency. The 6.6 MWp solar facility features 11,928 bifacial photovoltaic modules, each with a capacity of 550 Wp, mounted on ground structures. Energy conversion is managed by 20 Sungrow SG250HX string inverters, known for their high efficiency and compatibility with bifacial modules. To optimize performance and regulate grid frequency, the park integrates 4 MW / 4.4 MWh of battery storage using Sungrow’s PowerTitan 1.0 solution. The AC-coupled system ensures that the PV and battery systems operate independently, enhancing flexibility and reliability. Carl Kuylenstierna, CEO of Sperlingsholms Gods, the plant’s owner, said, “We invested in a solar park because we believe society needs it, and solar energy is a sustainable way to produce electricity. We generate electricity exactly when it’s most needed, in broad daylight, and at a very low marginal cost.” Fredrik Lyckvind, CSO of Powerworks Energy, stated, “We chose Sungrow technology for both the PV inverters and the BESS system because they are market-leading and perform exceptionally well in the Nordic climate. We chose the PowerTitan 1.0 for its 1C system, which allows us to charge and discharge within one hour, perfect for the markets in which we operate. In addition, its liquid-cooled technology significantly reduces operating costs and ensures long-term system stability.” Mr. Fredrik Liljehov, Head of Utility at Solarwork Sverige, mentioned, “This is one of Sweden’s first hybrid solar parks, with almost 12,000 solar panels that will produce 7,000 MWh per year. We installed 20 SG250HX inverters, chosen for their ability to handle large power loads while offering installation flexibility.” The project’s success hinged on delivering energy cost-effectively and on-demand. Sungrow’s solutions, designed for easy installation and harsh environments, helped minimize downtime and speed up commissioning, ensuring deadlines were met. This hybrid solar park not only sets a benchmark for renewable energy projects in Sweden but also highlights the potential of combining solar power with smart storage for a cleaner, more resilient grid—perfectly aligning with Sungrow’s mission of “Clean Power for All.” Raphael Henkel, Country Manager for Sweden and Finland at Sungrow, highlighted the importance of this project, explaining that hybrid projects make renewable energy more efficient by maximizing its use, “We are delighted to be collaborating with Solarworks Sverige and Powerworks Energy. The successful commissioning of one of Sweden’s first hybrid solar parks is evidence of the growing demand for integrated PV and ESS solutions. At Sungrow, we are committed to providing innovative, high-performance technology that supports grid stability and maximises the development of renewable energy. This project for Sperlingsholms Gods is an example of how hybrid PV and storage solutions can drive the clean energy transition and a showcase of strong collaboration between the parties involved.” |
