This is the first renewable energy purchase agreement signed by the dairy company, which will receive 34 GWh of electricity generated annually from the Cañada Honda IV solar farms and the La Rioja Solar Complex. Energy company 360Energy and dairy company Danone Argentina have announced a power purchase agreement (PPA) under which the latter will receive 34 GWh of renewable energy per year, generated by the Cañada Honda IV solar farms and the La Rioja Solar Complex. According to a statement, this is the first agreement of its kind for Danone in the country, with which it aims to achieve 90% renewable energy consumption for its total operations at its plants located in Longchamps (producer of yogurts, cheeses and desserts) and Garín (producer of nutritional products with brands such as Nutrilón4 and Vital4), both in the province of Buenos Aires, its administrative offices, distribution centers (La Serenísima logistics) and administrative office. It adds that, in addition, the contract includes the issuance of IRECs (International Renewable Energy Certificates), which guarantee the renewable origin of the energy used, a tool that promotes transparency and traceability in the adoption of clean energy. The dairy company says it aims to achieve zero emissions by 2050. The 13 MW Cañada Honda IV solar farm is located in the province of San Juan, next to Cañada Honda I, the latter recognized as the first large-scale solar farm installed in Argentina when 360Energy inaugurated it in 2012. The La Rioja Solar Complex, with 122 MW of installed capacity , consists of the La Rioja I, La Rioja II and La Rioja III solar parks, located in the town of Nonogasta in that province. It so happens that the complex already has several power purchase agreements with companies such as Stellantis , Acerbrag, Bridgestone, Holcim , Rehau, Estisol , Transclor, the Alto Gualtallary vineyard consortium and Smurfit Westrock . 360Energy has six photovoltaic solar parks in the country, located in the provinces of San Juan, La Rioja, and Catamarca. The company currently claims to be expanding its operations to Brazil, Mexico, and Spain with the Stellantis Group, a minority shareholder in 360Energy. |
