The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MINEM) has approved the project for Energía Renovable La Joya, a company that had applied to apply for the Special Regime for Early Recovery of the General Sales Tax. The photovoltaic plant is being built in the department of Arequipa. The Peruvian Ministry of Mines and Energy (MINEM) has published Resolution No. 078-2025-MINEM/DM, which approves Energía Renovable La Joyas application to the Special Regime for Early Recovery of the General Sales Tax, in connection with the construction and commissioning of the 385 MW Illa photovoltaic park, which it is developing in the districts of La Joya and Mollendo, in the provinces of Arequipa and Islay, department of Arequipa. As explained in the same resolution, the Special Regime for Early Recovery of the General Sales Tax includes the tax levied on imports and/or local acquisitions of new capital goods, new intermediate goods, services, and construction contracts directly related to the execution of the project. It clarifies that the benefit includes acquisitions of goods, services, and construction contracts that were made from August 23, 2024, until the receipt of income from the productive operations of the aforementioned project. The project The Illa Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant project consists of the construction and operation of a photovoltaic power plant, along with a booster substation and a 220 kV transmission line that will connect the Jade substation with the San José substation, and whose generated energy will be injected into Perus National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN). It covers an area of ??579,112 hectares, making it one of the largest solar projects in the country. It includes the installation of 416 inverters distributed across 52 8.8 MVA transformer substations. The maximum rated active power per inverter is 951.92 kW. According to the ministerial resolution, the estimated investment amounts to $270,295,350, excluding the General Sales Tax. It also states that the investment commitment will be executed by December 30, 2025. The testing period for the plant will run from September 1 to December 30, 2025, it is stated. According to a statement from the Peruvian Renewable Energy Association last February, the plant is around 16% complete . |
