The Spanish company is proposing a $360 million investment for the Monterrico Solar Photovoltaic Park. It will be located in the Ñuble region. Spanish energy company Zelestra has submitted its Monterrico Solar Photovoltaic Park project to the Environmental Impact Assessment Service. The project will have an installed capacity of 248.73 MWp and a nominal power of 200 MWn, which will be injected into the National Electric System (SEN). The project, which will be located in the municipalities of Coihueco and Chillán, in the province of Punilla and Diguillín, in the Ñuble region, proposes the installation of 404,433 photovoltaic panels of 615 Wp each. It also includes a 220 kV overhead high-voltage line, energized at 154 kV, of approximately 12.3 km, which will be directly connected to the Monterrico substation. The project is presented alongside a battery energy storage system, BESS (Battery Energy Storage System), with 1,200 MWh lithium-ion batteries, a maximum power of 200 MW, and a runtime of six hours. With a planned investment of $306 million, the project is expected to begin construction on December 1, 2026, with connection to the SEN in June 2028 and a useful life of 35 years. The construction phase is expected to employ a maximum of 400 workers per day, with an average of 150 workers per day. During the operational phase, the maximum daily workforce is expected to be 20 workers per day, with an average of 10 workers per day. |
