The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently opened access to the Tawiran-Guinobatan Road now serving as a vital transportation link, supporting the livelihood and economic activities of Barangay Tawiran and Guinobatan in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. In his report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office IV-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan said that the opening of the 1.10-kilometer road, is highly essential in enhancing mobility in the area by providing a direct route for residents and motorists, thus reducing travel time and transportation costs. “The Tawiran-Guinobatan Road is among the road projects under the Build Better More program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. focused on improving and developing more local road networks to help boost agri-trading, stimulate economic activities towards growth and development across the country,” added Director Pacanan. The newly-opened road also covers the construction of a 128-lineal meter four (4)-lane carriageway and slope protection on both sides, including the installation of reinforced concrete pipe culverts at intermittent sections as its safety features to ensure the safety and durability of the roadway. Completed ahead of schedule, the Tawiran-Guinobatan Road was implemented by DPWH Mindoro Oriental District Engineering Office in the amount of P71.25 million under the 2024 General Appropriations Act. |
