The National Highway Administration confirmed that it will continue roadworks on national routes throughout the country, within the framework of the guidelines established by the Basic Law. The agency reported that, despite the cancellation of several contracts, essential works will continue with the goal of optimizing the use of available resources. In a statement, the entity indicated that it has begun the administrative closure of contracts that were suspended and that, despite prior efforts, could not be reactivated. These include concessions that ended in 2018, whose formal closure had not yet taken place. The agency clarified that for sections where contracts are in force, although suspended, new agreements cannot be reached until prior commitments are resolved. This measure seeks to avoid duplication of budget allocations and ensure the efficient execution of the works. In this context, the National Highway Administration issued a notification to all its management departments decreeing the termination of contracts related to maintenance, construction, and related services. The order, signed by its director, responds to the current economic and financial situation and establishes termination due to completion of work, limitation, or mutual agreement. This decision affects not only road infrastructure projects but also essential services such as intersection lighting maintenance, shoulder maintenance, and grass cutting. On the other hand, April 8th marks the end of the Caminos del Río Uruguay (CRUSA) concession, which could affect nearly 500 toll workers in Entre Ríos. During a recent meeting, the SUTRA union reported that the concessionaire requested that the National Highway Administration extend the contract until a new operator is awarded, but the request was rejected. Although the renegotiation is still ongoing, if an agreement is not reached, the State will assume administration of the tolls without receiving any revenue for the service. |
