Work Detail |
Presented by the Portuguese multinational EDP with an estimated investment of $750 million, it will deploy 256 MW of wind power and 283 MW of photovoltaic energy in the Antofagasta region. It will also include a BESS system with a capacity of 360 MW and a runtime of up to 5 hours. Chiles Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA) has approved the Vientos de Taltal Wind and Solar Hybrid Park project, developed by the Portuguese multinational EDP. The project consists of a wind and photovoltaic sector, with nominal capacities of 256 MW and 283 MW, respectively, to be located in the municipality of Taltal, Antofagasta Region. According to the SEIA presentation, the project has a 35-year lifespan and an estimated investment of $750 million. A battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 360 MW and a runtime of up to 5 hours is also proposed, covering a total area of ??842.34 hectares. The facility, which will serve the National Electric System (SEN) through a High Voltage Transmission Line (HVTL), includes the construction of 32 wind turbines and two photovoltaic module zones. During the construction phase, a maximum total workforce of 600 people is expected, and for the operational phase, a maximum permanent workforce of 30 workers. With construction estimated to begin in September 2027, it is expected to be ready for operation three years later. |
