Work Detail |
The National Government has taken a key step in the expansion of the Perito Moreno Gas Pipeline (GPM) , formerly known as the Néstor Kirchner Gas Pipeline. Through the Ministry of Economy, the Secretariat of Energy has been instructed to launch the bidding process, with an estimated investment of $700 million. The project, presented by Transportadora de Gas del Sur (TGS) and declared of public interest, seeks to increase gas transportation capacity from Vaca Muerta. The planned addition is 14 million cubic meters per day (MMm3/d), with an additional option for 6 MMm3/d to meet the countrys growing energy demand. The bidding process will be overseen by the Ministry of Energy, while Energía Argentina SA (Enarsa) will be responsible for executing the process. This arrangement opens the door for other industry players to submit proposals to carry out the project. The project was initially launched in June 2024 by TGS, a company co-controlled by Pampa Energía and the Sielecki family. Resolution 169 of the Ministry of Economy, published in the Official Gazette, formalized the delegation of powers to the Ministry of Energy to move forward with the public call for proposals. This expansion of the Perito Moreno Gas Pipeline is considered strategic for boosting transportation capacity from Vaca Muerta, consolidating the countrys energy development and improving natural gas distribution infrastructure. |
