Work Detail The long-awaited reconstruction of the Parque España piers in Rosario is entering its final contracting phase, and construction is expected to begin this month. The project, part of the Rosario Agreement and part of the citys tricentennial initiatives, includes the expansion and extension of 120 meters of the pier to replace the structures that collapsed more than three years ago. With a provincial investment of more than 23 billion pesos, the project will be completed within 18 months. The deterioration of the old docks, built at the end of the 19th century, progressively worsened from 2020 until their total collapse in 2023, rendering the riverside promenade unusable up to the steps of the Príncipe de Asturias Theater. After several failed announcements of national funding, the provincial government assumed responsibility for the project, including it in a package of key works for the city. The intervention plan not only includes the reconstruction of the pier, but also the expansion of the esplanade of the Parque de España Cultural Center and the installation of interlocking block flooring in shades of gray and red. In addition, a 250-meter illuminated helical ramp will be built to connect the upper and lower sections of the ravine. The project also includes the addition of street furniture, benches, and planters, following the original vision of architect Oriol Bohigas, who designed the Parque España complex. In the bidding process, six companies submitted their economic offers: Supercemento – Obring (UT): $16 billion. Mundo Construcciones – Pentamar (UT): $18 billion. Edeca – Pecam (UT): More than $20 billion. Dinale – Dyscon – Pietroboni (UT): $22 billion. Riva: $22.5 billion. Electro Constructora – Pamar (UT): $25.1 billion. The technical and economic evaluation of the proposals is currently underway, and the final award is expected to be made in March. The mayor of Rosario will highlight this and other major projects at the opening of the regular sessions of the City Council, framing the intervention in Spain Park as part of a series of projects to modernize the citys urban infrastructure. The project, which seeks to strengthen the connection between the historic center and the riverbank, is shaping up to be one of the most significant in recent years, with a significant impact on the revaluation of public space and the urban development of Rosario.
