Work Detail The long-awaited reconstruction of the docks of Parque España in Rosario is entering its final phase of awarding and the works are expected to begin this month. The project, framed within the Rosario Agreement and part of the citys tricentennial initiatives, includes the expansion and extension of 120 meters of dock to replace the structures that collapsed more than three years ago. With a provincial investment of more than 23 billion pesos, the work will have an execution period of 18 months. The deterioration of the old docks, built at the end of the 19th century, progressively worsened from 2020 until their total collapse in 2023, leaving the riverside promenade up to the steps of the Príncipe de Asturias Theatre unusable. After several failed announcements of national financing, the provincial government assumed responsibility for the project, including it in a package of key works for the city. The intervention plan not only includes the reconstruction of the dock, but also the extension of the esplanade of the Parque de España Cultural Centre and the installation of a paving of interlocking blocks in shades of grey and red. In addition, a 250-metre illuminated spiral ramp will be built to connect the upper part of the ravine with the lower part. The project also includes the incorporation of street furniture, benches and flowerpots, following the original vision of the architect Oriol Bohigas, who designed the Parque España complex. In the bidding process, six companies submitted their financial offers: Supercemento – Obring (UT): $16 billion. World Construction – Pentamar (UT): $18 billion. Edeca – Pecam (UT): More than $20 billion. Dinale – Dyscon – Pietroboni (UT): $22 billion. Riva: $22.5 billion. Electro Constructora – Pamar (UT): $25.1 billion. The technical and economic evaluation of the proposals is currently underway, and the final award is expected to take place in March. The Mayor of Rosario will highlight this and other major works at the opening of the ordinary sessions of the Municipal Council, framing the intervention in Parque España within a set of projects to modernize the urban infrastructure of the city. The work, which seeks to consolidate the connection between the historic center and the riverbank, is emerging as one of the most relevant in recent years, with a significant impact on the revaluation of public space and the urban development of Rosario.
