Work Detail | As the Prospect Mountain Construction Project progresses, DOT workers are advising drivers about changes that will take place along Route 7. On Thursday, DOT workers held a news conference to discuss the improvements that will start on Friday on Route 7 North and South bound lanes. Drainage construction will begin and holes will be dug up to 16 feet deep to hold large cement pipes. It starts on Friday and is expected to be complete in about 2 weeks. DOT Regional Director Jack Williams says motorists will experience some delays, but workers will move as quickly as they can. "Our plan is to cross traffic over to the Northbound side of Route 7 so we can work on the southbound side. We're going to work in 2 shifts of 12 hours for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until we get it done. That's a commitment we make for the traveling public," he said. To clarify, drivers can still make their way on the north and southbound lanes, however they will be crossed over and will be divided with concrete barriers and cones. The entire Prospect Mountain Project is slated to be completed in 2020. |
