The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) formally kicked off on Monday, March 10, 2025, the month-long celebration of National Women’s Month, with activities and programs that aim to uplift and recognize women and their contributions to nation building. DPWH Undersecretary and Chairperson of DPWH Gender and Development Focal Point System (DPWH-GFPS) Maria Catalina E. Cabral led this year’s opening ceremony with the sub-theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” which embodies a true sense of empowerment and support, reinforcing the Republic Act 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women. To kick off the celebration, purple flaglets and banners filled the flag ceremony which was graced by the DPWH Management Committee in traditional Barong and Filipiniana outfits. This was followed by the signing of pledge of commitment, and the launching of the Galing at Ganda: DPWH Women Entrepreneurs’ Fair at the DPWH main lobby. “The agency not only vows to recognize the tireless work and contributions of women but also to give equal opportunities for all because talent, intellect, and diligence cannot and will not be measured by gender,” said Undersecretary Cabral. Other activities lined up for the month-long occasion include several forums on Republic Act 9710 and other related legislations, Work-Life Balance and Mental Health in the Workplace for Women, Gender and Development (GAD) Quiz Bee, and the awarding ceremony for the Search for Exemplary DPWH Women Employees – Her Legacy, Her Story: Inspiring Women, Elevating Success. |
