Two new solar parks in Hungary will have combined capacity of 151MW Uniper has kicked off the construction phase of two new solar parks in Hungary, which will have a combined capacity of 151MW. The photovoltaic projects in Tét and Dunaföldvár will provide enough renewable electricity each year to supply up to 92,000 households. “We are proud to be part of Hungary’s energy transition and to support the country’s path to renewable energy with these solar projects,” said Uniper chief executive Jörg Lennertz. “Tét and Dunaföldvár represent important milestones on our journey towards a sustainable energy future.” Construction of the 61MW Dunaföldvár project will get underway in the second quarter of 2025 and is expected to be connected to the grid by 2026. Building work for the 90MW Tét project will begin in the third quarter of 2025, with operations starting in 2027. Uniper is seeking to expanding its renewable portfolio across Europe, with a current focus on Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Sweden, Hungary, and Poland. In the UK, the company is entering the construction phase for two projects in the Midlands. Once operational, the Tamworth Solar Farm in Alvecote, Tamworth, would have the potential to generate around 44.2MW, while the Totmonslow Solar Farm in Draycott in the Moors will be capable of 21.3MW. The combined capacity of around 65MW will be enough to power around 23,000 homes per year with renewable electricity. Uniper expects to start construction later this year, with the first electricity to be fed into the national grid in 2026. |
