Work Detail Electric vehicle manufacturer Motovolt Mobility has secured a contract from Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL) to supply electric bicycles under the ‘Sustainable Transport for Rural Entrepreneurs through Electric Cycles’ (STREE) project. The initiative, launched by CESL in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Rural Development, aims to provide 1,800 cargo e-bicycles to rural women entrepreneurs across Bihar, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh. CESL is a subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) under the Union Ministry of Power. Motovolt will play a crucial role in executing the programme by supplying specially designed cargo e-cycles tailored for rural applications. Additionally, the company will assist CESL in organizing training sessions for women self-help groups (SHGs), equipping them with the skills to maximize the use of e-cycles and enhance their livelihoods. “This initiative is about creating opportunities for rural women and entrepreneurs, improving their mobility, and fostering economic growth through clean, green solutions,” said Tushar Choudhary, Founder and CEO of Motovolt Mobility. “Empowering communities with electric mobility is a powerful way to drive change and sustainability at the grassroots level.” Beyond transportation, the project aims to raise awareness about the benefits of electric vehicles and build local capacity for e-mobility in underserved regions. Motovolt will further support CESL in outreach efforts through State Rural Livelihood Missions to ensure the programme’s effective implementation.
