The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has opened road access to an upland part of Magdiwang, Romblon, also known as Beatriz Road, now significantly improving the delivery of farm products, primarily coconuts and vegetable crops to the market centers. DPWH Regional Office IV-B Director Gerald A. Pacanan, in his report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, said that the 2.6-kilometer road project aims to support local farmers and residents, enhancing transportation access from the mountainous areas while boosting agri trading in key communities. “This road project was implemented to complement its adjacent road in Barangay Jao-Asan leading to San Fernando Cross Country Road that serves as a vital transportation link in supporting livelihood and economic activities in Romblon,” said Director Pacanan. The newly opened Beatriz Road is among the road projects under the Build Better More program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., that aims to improve local road networks, especially mountainous roads with rich agricultural lands, fundamental to the economic growth and development of the remote areas in the country. Implemented by the DPWH Romblon District Engineering Office, the construction of Beatriz Road was completed in the amount of P144.74 million. |
