The government of the province of Santa Fe confirmed the start of the works for the construction of the new bridge that will connect Santa Fe with Santo Tomé. With an investment of more than 39.5 billion pesos, the project will be executed by the UTE formed by the companies Lemiro Petroboni SA, SE.MI.SA and Cocivial SA. The contract has already been signed and submitted to the Government Notary, with only the signature of the UTE pending to begin the works in the next few days. The bridge, one of the most anticipated works in the region, will be developed in three sectors: the headwaters in both towns and the main structure over the Salado River. The current bridge will remain in use for the entry of traffic to Santo Tomé, while the new bridge will be used for the crossing to Santa Fe, both with two lanes of traffic. In the Santa Fe district, the project includes the demolition of the deteriorated pavement and the construction of two 9.30-meter-wide roads, each with two lanes and shoulders. Additional improvements are also planned, such as lighting, landscaping and the inclusion of a bicycle path. In the Santo Tomé district, traffic will be reorganized by eliminating the left turn on Mitre Street and modifying the direction of traffic on the avenue of the same name to improve vehicular flow. The main span of the bridge will be 1,300 metres long and will include erosion protection, lighting, metal barriers and safety railings. This work aims to significantly improve the connection between the two cities and reduce traffic congestion in the area. The province decided to finance the work with its own resources due to the lack of national contributions, highlighting its strategic importance for mobility and economic development in the region. With the imminent start of work, the new bridge is expected to transform the road infrastructure and speed up traffic between Santa Fe and Santo Tomé.
