PNN 91140
Work Detail It will be located in the Tarapacá region, will have 152 Sungrow ST5015kWh-UX-4H containers, model UX-4H, with LFP (Lithium-Ferrophosphate) battery technology, and will entail an investment of 157.5 million dollars. The Chilean Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA) has approved the project for the Energy Storage System (BESS) in the Nueva Pozo Almonte Electrical Substation, Ríos de Ondarreta, of the Stand Alone type, which will complete a capacity of 762.28 MWh, to be located in the commune of Pozo Almonte, province of Tamarugal, region of Tarapacá. According to the project presentation, it involves the construction and operation of a battery energy storage plant (BESS) and its 220 kV power transmission line with an approximate length of 475 meters, which will be connected to the existing Nueva Pozo Almonte substation. In total, this is an area to be occupied of approximately 6.5 ha2, of which 1.6 ha comprise the area of ??the BESS storage plant and 0.78 ha the lifting substation. The project will consist of 152 Sungrow ST5015kWh-UX-4H containers, model UX-4H, with LFP (Lithium-Ferrophosphate) battery technology, each with bidirectional DC/AC converters, which will provide each unit with an installed power of 126 kVA*6 with output at 690 V AC, together with auxiliary equipment and a structure for enclosure. There is also mention of 38 MVS5140-LS containers with 5140 kVA power transformers each, which will allow the voltage to be raised from 690 V AC to 33 kV. Each of these containers will be connected to the underground medium voltage network within the project area. There will also be 294 auxiliary equipment such as electrical cabinets, power transformers, lithium containers in standby operation and power electronics systems. With an investment of 157.5 million dollars, the estimated start date of execution is March 2, 2026 and the projects useful life, which includes the construction, operation and closure stages, is 22 years and 4 months.
