The Ministry of Mines and Energy, through the Non-Conventional Energy and Efficient Energy Management Fund (FENOGE) and with the support of the Mayors Office of Pereira, delivered 38 Educational Energy Communities in the department of Risaralda. The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MINEM), through the Non-Conventional Energy and Efficient Energy Management Fund (FENOGE), delivered 38 Educational Energy Communities in the towns of Pereira and Quinchía, in the department of Risaralda. According to a ministerial statement, 29 Educational Energy Communities were implemented in Pereira through the installation of solar systems, with an investment of more than 10 million Colombian pesos (around 2.4 million dollars). The project, which is estimated to generate 778 MWh annually, benefits 22,710 students, teachers and workers. In addition, approximately 2,400 inefficient light bulbs were replaced with LED technology. We want savings of up to 80% on energy bills to be reinvested in expanding clean energy capabilities, which can serve not only for institutions, but also for schools to become energy communities for the neighborhood, for the community, said the Minister of Mines and Energy, Andrés Camacho. In Quinchía, nine Energy Communities were delivered as part of the ConEnergía program, aimed at educational institutions and hospitals in areas of the country affected by the internal armed conflict. The investment was more than 740 million Colombian pesos and a total capacity of 28.26 kWp was installed. This project will allow an estimated saving of 58% on the electricity bills of the beneficiary institutions, equivalent to 780 million Colombian pesos annually. |
