Work Detail Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday, urging him to approve and expedite key infrastructure projects in the state, including Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II and the Regional Ring Road (RRR). During the meeting, Reddy also briefed the PM on the ongoing rescue operation in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Nagarkurnool district. Metro Rail & Regional Ring Road Push Reddy emphasized the need for swift approval of Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II, which includes five corridors spanning 76.4 km at an estimated cost of ?24,269 crore. He requested the Centre’s immediate approval to facilitate the project’s execution. The CM also urged the PM to sanction the southern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR), highlighting that 90% of land acquisition for the northern section has already been completed. He stressed that completing both sections together would maximize the project’s benefits. The Telangana government, he added, is willing to bear 50% of the land acquisition cost for the southern stretch. Rail & Dry Port Proposals Reddy proposed a Regional Ring Rail project parallel to the RRR to enhance connectivity between Telangana and neighboring states. He sought the Centre’s approval, emphasizing its potential to strengthen rail transport infrastructure. Additionally, he called for the establishment of a dry port near the RRR to facilitate exports and imports for landlocked Telangana. He requested a greenfield road and railway route to connect this dry port to seaports in Andhra Pradesh. Moosi River & Gandhi Sarovar Development The CM appealed for ?20,000 crore in financial assistance to revive the Moosi River, positioning it as a crucial environmental and urban development initiative. He also sought the transfer of 222.7 acres of protected land for the Gandhi Sarovar project. Semiconductor Industry Request Reddy pushed for Telangana to be chosen for the India Semiconductor Mission, citing the state’s strong industrial ecosystem and favorable conditions for semiconductor manufacturing. He urged Modi to approve the project, which could position Telangana as a key player in India’s semiconductor industry. The meeting highlights Telangana’s push for critical infrastructure development, with the state government seeking substantial central support to accelerate its growth trajectory.
