Procurement News Notice

PNN 90992
Work Detail The national government announced its plan to privatize the state-owned company Corredores Viales SA, responsible for managing several sections of national routes. In the coming weeks, public hearings will be held to advance the selection of new concessionaire companies under the public works for tolls model, without state subsidies. According to the presidential spokesman, the new scheme will encourage private investment in road infrastructure. The companies awarded the contract will be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the works at their own cost and risk, in exchange for the right to charge tolls to users. Unlike previous models, there will be no subsidies or fees paid to the State. The privatisation process involves several key stages. Initially, Corredores Viales SA will be transferred to the Agency for the Transformation of Public Companies (ATEP), which is dependent on the Ministry of Economy. Subsequently, the current concession contracts covering ten sections of national corridors will be terminated. Following the dissolution of the current contracts, a selection process will be opened to award new public works concessions in these corridors. Finally, once the new contracts have been assigned, the final liquidation of Corredores Viales SA will take place. The new concessionaires will be selected based on the criteria of the lowest user fee. While the transition is underway, the Government guaranteed that toll rates will remain frozen until road conditions reach optimal standards, which will include complete patching, improvements to shoulders, signage and better lighting of the concessioned routes.
