Work Detail This is a 32% increase compared to the previous year. According to data from the Peruvian Association of Renewable Energies, solar power has a total installed capacity of 476.66 MW. Throughout 2024, 195.48 MW of installed photovoltaic capacity was added to Peru, thanks to the entry into operation of the Clemesí, 114.93 MW; Matarani, 80 MW; and Carhuaquero, 0.55 MW plants. Data provided by the Peruvian Association of Renewable Energies (SPR) confirm that the country currently has a total installed solar capacity of 476.66 MW, due to 11 plants in operation. It is also reported that eight photovoltaic projects totalling 1,773.64 MW are under construction. Of this total, five of them are expected to come into operation this year, totalling 1,136.74 MW. The other three, which complete the 636.9 MW, are planned for 2026. Meanwhile, 18,134 MW of solar technology projects are under development in different phases, distributed as follows: 338.76 MW with definitive concession 285.44 MW with environmental management, in process or approved 792.24 MW with Pre-Operational Studies (EPO) Solar installed capacity in 2024 Three solar power plants went into operation last year, two in February. One of them was Clemesí, with a capacity of 114.93 MW, owned by the company Orygen, located in the district of Moquegua, province of Mariscal Nieto, department of Moquegua, with an investment of 81 million dollars. The other was Carhuaquero, with a capacity of 0.55 MW, from the Kondu company, located in the districts of Llama and Catache, in the provinces of Chota and Santa Cruz, department of Cajamarca, which has required an investment of 400 thousand dollars. In August it was the turn of Matarani, 80 MW , from the company GR Cortarrama, located in the Mollendo desert - one of the regions with the highest solar radiation in the world -, Arequipa. Photovoltaic projects under construction According to SPR information, the solar projects that are scheduled to come into operation this year, all in the department of Arequipa, are Sunny, 204 MW (34% complete); Illa, 385 MW (16%); San Martín Solar , 252.40 MW (82%); Solimana , 250 MW (2%); and Sol de Verano I 45.34 MW (0%) For next year they include: Lupi , 181.20 (7% progress); San José , 155.70 MW (0%); and Hanaqpampa , 300 MW (0%).
