Work Detail The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the rehabilitation of damaged paved roads along Daang Maharlika in the municipalities of Tumauini and Cabagan, Isabela. DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region II OIC-Director Mathias L. Malenab, said that the road improvement project aims to enhance safety and durability in key areas of the national highway, particularly in Lalauanan – Balug section in Tumauini, and Santa, Tumauini – Magassi section in Cabagan. The project covers a total of 1.147 kilometers of rehabilitation work, including asphalt overlay of 100-millimeter thick bituminous concrete surface on a 4-lane carriageway and shoulder, ensuring smoother and more resilient road conditions. Additionally, a 6-meter reblocking of Portland cement concrete pavement was undertaken to replace damaged sections of the main carriageway. To improve visibility and safety, DPWH also installed reflectorized thermoplastic road markings, traffic and warning signs, and internally illuminated (solar) pavement markers. “With the newly overlaid asphalt pavement and improved safety features, motorists and commuters traveling along Daang Maharlika in Tumauini and Cabagan now benefit from smoother, safer, and more efficient road access,” said OIC Director Malenab. Implemented by the DPWH Regional Office II, the road improvement project was funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA) in the amount of ?61.4 million.
