Canadian Solar Inc. announced that e-STORAGE, a division of the Company’s majority-owned subsidiary CSI Solar Co., Ltd. (CSI Solar), has secured a contract with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (“CIP”) through its fifth flagship fund, Copenhagen Infrastructure V. This agreement is for the development of 240 MW/960 MWh battery energy storage systems in Summerfield, South Australia. Set to begin construction in 2025, the Summerfield project is poised to become one of the largest battery energy storage projects in the region. As a leading global provider of energy storage solutions, e-STORAGE will deliver full turnkey EPC services, including the supply and integration of over 200 SolBank 3.0 battery containers. Additionally, e-STORAGE will ensure the long-term performance and operational management of the project under a service agreement with CIP. The company boasts a skilled project delivery team in Australia, with several Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects either completed or underway. Situated in Murraylands, 55 kilometers east of Adelaide near Mannum, the project aligns with the South Australian Government’s goal of achieving 100% net renewable energy by 2027. It will store excess wind and solar power generated during the day, providing renewable energy during peak demand periods.
