The Board of Members of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) has just issued Decision No. 23/QD-HDTV, dated January 16, 2025, approving the investment project for the 500 kV Lao Cai—Vinh Yen transmission line.Accordingly, the EVN Board of Directors approved the investment project for the 500 kV Lao Cai—Vinh Yen transmission line, with construction locations and route directions in Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, and Vinh Phuc provinces. The starting point is the Pootich beam of the 500 kV Lao Cai transformer station, and the endpoint is the Pootich beam of the 500 kV Vinh Yen transformer station. The project has a route length of about 229.3 km. The project investor is EVN, and the investor representative is Power Project Management Board 1 (EVNPMB1). The organization responsible for preparing the Feasibility Study Report for construction investment and organizing the construction survey is the Joint Venture of Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 and Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 4. The project has a total investment of more than 7,410 billion VND. The project belongs to Group A, energy industry project, special level. The design life of the main project is at least 40 years. The objectives of the project include: 1. To transmit the capacity of hydropower plants in the Northwest region and neighboring provinces to the national power system. 2. To create strong links between regions in the power system, increasing the ability to operate safely and stably for the national power system. 3. To reduce power loss in the transmission grid, increase the efficiency of the Groups electricity production and business, and reserve the need to import electricity from China. Regarding the implementation progress, according to Decision No. 1274/QD-TTg dated October 26, 2024, of the Prime Minister, the project will start construction in December 2025, construction will last for 6 months, and the project will be completed and put into operation in May 2026. Accordingly, EVN strives to start construction in February 2025, energize no later than September 1, 2025, and complete the investment project in the first quarter of 2026./. |
