The Government of Mendoza opened the tenders for the modernization of the Bombal canal irrigation system, in the Diamante River basin. This work, financed with funds from the economic compensation for Industrial Promotion, is the second to be carried out jointly by the General Department of Irrigation and the Government of Mendoza. The opening ceremony of the envelopes took place in the Engineering Hall of the General Department of Irrigation, with the participation of three bidding companies: Western Structures SA Horizonte Construction Company S.A. Camiletti SA The modernization of the Bombal canal seeks to optimize the distribution of water resources, improve irrigation efficiency and strengthen crop diversification. The project includes the construction of a reservoir with a capacity of 104,000 m3 of water, which will be connected to the 1st and 2nd Bombal canals by means of a channel, a discharge spillway and a new pipeline. The adaptation of existing compartments for the installation of mask modules is also planned, facilitating a more precise derivation of the flows. The total investment is $2,062,200,000 and the execution period is 18 months, benefiting 267 users and 1,421 hectares of agricultural production in Cuadro Nacional, San Rafael. In parallel, the tender was launched for the modernization of the Calise canal irrigation system in the Upper Tunuyán River basin, with an investment of USD 4,100,000 and a term of execution of 18 months. The tender was also opened for the work of “Lining and partial modernization of the irrigation system of the Matriz Perrone canal, in the Atuel River basin”, with a budget of $23,424,000,000 and a term of 24 months.
