PNN 90363
Work Detail The date for the opening of the tender envelopes for the Santo Tomé-San Borja bridge has been set, which will take place in early April. This project seeks to strengthen the connection between Argentina and Brazil, facilitating the transit of people and goods between both cities. The project will include the construction of a new bridge, with a structure designed to support a high flow of vehicles and cargo. In addition, the project includes improvements to road access and the modernization of the Unified Border Center, which will optimize immigration and customs controls. The Secretary of International Relations of Santo Tomé, Tomás Cortés, highlighted the strategic importance of the bridge for tourism and bilateral trade. He also mentioned that the successful bidder will have to make an estimated investment of 100 million dollars for the management of the Unified Border Center. Currently, residents of São Tomé can cross the border without paying a toll to make purchases in Brazil, which increases the flow of vehicles, especially on weekends. To speed up traffic, agencies such as the National Gendarmerie, Customs and Immigration coordinate efforts in border operations. The completion of this project represents a key step forward in the infrastructure connecting both countries, promoting regional development and economic integration.
