The electric vehicle charging station is located at the entitys Administrative Center, at km 3.5 of Ciudad del Este. The photovoltaic system is made up of 21 solar panels totaling 8.5 kilowatts peak kWp. A charging station for electric vehicles powered by a photovoltaic system with an installed capacity of 8.5 kWp has been put into operation at the Administrative Centre of the Paraguayan sector of Itaipu Binacional. The installation, which consists of 21 solar panels of 405 kWp each and is located at km 3.5 of Ciudad del Este, is available to the public. According to a statement, the solar roof has a dual function: it provides shade while the vehicles are charging, on the one hand, and, on the other, and obviously, “it generates electrical energy that is injected through an intelligent On-Grid inverter into the internal network of the Administrative Center, thus reducing its energy consumption.” The information states that in order to use the equipment, in this experimental phase, electric vehicle users must register at the gate of the Administrative Center where they will receive the respective instructions. It is also noted that “the user of the electric vehicle is responsible for charging and must remain on site during this period.” The initiative is promoted by the Renewable Energy Advisory Board of Itaipu, together with the Sustainable Electric Mobility Advisory Board, within the framework of the EREE Practices (Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency), and it is assured that it is part of the efforts to promote sustainable mobility in Paraguay. |
