Work Detail Company signs shareholders deal to help finalise design of FPSO in Portugal Jord Engineering has invested in SwitcH2 BV to help finalise the design of a 300MW offshore floating ammonia project in Portugal. Under the shareholders agreement, JOGS, a Jord Group subsidiary, will contribute to the final design phase of SwitcH2’s groundbreaking green Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel to produce renewable ammonia. JOGS is known in the global FPSO industry for the design and construction of topside modules. SwitcH2 is a project developer with a pipeline of industrial scale floating green hydrogen and green ammonia production facilities based on FPSO technologies. Its other shareholders include BW Offshore and Dutch Oceans Capital. SwitcH2’s flagship project in Portugal will be a 300MW floater based on Ohmium’s PEM electrolyser solutions, ThyssenKrupp’s ammonia synthesis and ABB’s electrical and control systems. Powered by nearshore solar and wind energy, green ammonia will be produced on board the vessel for shipment to local users and the Benelux ports. “We are very pleased to be able to tap into Jord’s wealth of chemical engineering and construction experience,” said SwitcH2 managing director and co-founder Saskia Kunst. “Our shareholding base has superb complementarity in skills, know-how and strategic positioning in the renewable energy space and jointly we strive for FID on our first project soon.” JOGS managing director Michel Bosman added: “Jord is fully committed to the energy transition and delighted to have this opportunity to both invest in and help construct this landmark, future-focused project.”
