This is an initiative of AustrianSolar Chile Cuatro SpA, whose contract was awarded to E-Storage, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar. The project is located in the Tarapacá region. The installation is carried out by Tritec-Intervento. The 98 MW / 312 MWh Huatacondo BESS project, located in the Chilean region of Tarapacá, has started its construction phase, an initiative of AustrianSolar Chile Cuatro SpA, whose contract was awarded to E-Storage, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, while Tritec-Intervento has been chosen to carry out the BoP (Balance of Plan) part. According to Tritec, a solution based on AC Coupling is being used, and it is specified that the selected batteries, SolBank 3.0, “stand out for their liquid cooling system”, while the inverters provided will be from Power Electronics. Additionally, a SCADA system will allow the integration of the BESS with the Huatacondo photovoltaic park. The Huatacondo BESS project is the second storage project approved in Chile under Japan’s Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), and the first hybrid project. The JCM aims to reduce GHG emissions in developing and other countries by using advanced decarbonization technologies. In 2019, the Huatacondo solar power plant, “S4 Solar”, developed by Eiffage Concessions and Eiffage Energía, was inaugurated. It is located in the heart of the Atacama Desert in Chile. With an investment of 121 million dollars, the Huatacondo photovoltaic plant has a capacity of 103 MW . The project was developed by AustrianSolar Chile and Desarrollos Fotovoltaicos de Chile. Sojitz, Shikoku Electric Power and Eiffage are the current owners of the project, with a stake of 60%, 30% and 10% respectively. |
