A pavement improvement project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now benefits residents and motorists of Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay. Based on the report of DPWH Regional Office IX Director Cayamombao Dia, preventive maintenance works through asphalt overlay were undertaken along a two (2)-lane, 6.8-lane kilometer portion of the Imelda-Payao-Siay Road, traversing Barangays Guintolan and San Isidro. The road improvement project aligns with the policy directive issued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to enhance the national road network to facilitate the smooth and efficient delivery of goods and services across the country, promoting economic growth and improve the quality of life for all Filipinos. With the upgraded road surface, motorists now experience smoother travel and reduced vehicle maintenance costs while traveling to various establishments and government facilities in the area. “The asphalted road also reduces logistical challenges for farmers and local businesses in the area as it facilitates better transport of agricultural goods and products, thereby boosting local economic activities in Payao” said Director Dia. The P95.5 million project implemented by DPWH Zamboanga Sibugay 1st District Engineering Office also includes reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings as a safety feature. |
